Sell More On Ebay:
Squash Your eBay Competition!
by: Kevin A. Koop
As someone who’s achieved Powerseller status on
eBay, I’m frequently asked how I manage to remain
profitable against such stiff competition. The truth
is, I’ve figured out how to squash my eBay
Competition in the majority of my auctions.
Let’s say you’re selling iPod Shuffles like a
thousand other sellers. A large amount of those
auctions will expire unsuccessfully as there are
more products available than there are buyers.
The sellers who do “successfully” sell their items
are normally selling on low price alone and aren’t
making any real money. This is a terrible business
model.
So how do you successfully sell your item and make
more profit than most of the other sellers? Here’s
how it works… You have to be the ONLY seller selling
the exact same item!
You can accomplish this one of two ways… Either use
a technique I call “bundling” or by creating a
“special report” that complements the product you’re
offering.
An example of bundling is finding other accessory
items which complement the main product and putting
them together as a bundle. Do your best to find
several desirable accessories that you can add
without much cost.
In the case of the Shuffle, that could be a case,
upgraded headphones, external speakers, etc. Be
creative and check a bunch of other auctions to make
sure you’re unique!
The other way to make sure you’re the only seller
selling an exact item is to write a “special
report.” In the case of the Shuffle, you could
include simple instructions on how the user can
quickly get up to speed with their new Shuffle and
iTunes or maybe a “secret list” of great sites
you’ve found that offer free downloads.
Now, this will take some work and a little
creativity but trust me, it works.
Selling on eBay is a beautiful thing… Selling
without any real competition is even better!
